A homeowner reached out to us about 6 weeks ago regarding her new condo that she was about to move into.
The problem was that the home inspector discovered rats and rat feces in the attic. The rat feces was over about 75% of the attic insulation, and needed to be removed. Their was a faint smell, not heavy, just enough for it to smell bad.
The homeowner was very smart to allow us to remove all the old insulation before she moved in.
Location: Melbourne, Florida
Concern: Contaminated attic insulation due to rats.
Cause: Rodents were living in attic for a period of time.
Correction: We vacuumed out 1,458 sqft of old contaminated attic insulation. We then sanitized the attic with DSV, air sealed the attic and blew in new Owens Corning ProPinkL77a.
