A homeowner stated that their rear media room was warmer that the rest of the home. We did a through attic inspection, and by using a FLIR; We determined that the attic had thin spots of attic insulation and the ceiling was ranging from 81F to 84F. Very warm.
Our conclusion after inspection:
- 10% of the attic had adequate attic insulation.
- 80% had below average attic insulation.
- 10% had less than 2″ of attic insulation.
Location: Pine Castle, Florida
Concern: Warm media room.
Cause: Low insulation, old insulation, older home.
Correction: We added 10″ average to the entire home. We were able to achieve an R30 throughout the entire home.
