We were called to a 2 story home where the upstairs is always hot. Upon inspection, we discovered several layers of batting over 40 years old, original to the home build and another newer layer of batting. The upstairs was not air sealed and the shingles are black in color. We measured 128F in the attic and the ac was having trouble cooling the home.

Cause:
The insulation in the attic is inadequate and the attic stairs are allowing hot and humid air into the home.
Correction:
We removed all the old attic insulation from the home. Air Sealed with Soudal Foam. Vacuumed up all the old insulation and debris from the attic system. We are prepped for spray foam.
