Attic insulation removed. Yes we do it. Not every attic needs attic insulation removal, but if it does, we can do it. Insulation removal is one of our specialties,  we usually remove insulation when its old and contaminated and for several reasons. Removing the insulation whether its newer or old allows us to do the following as well.

Top 5 Reasons to Remove Old Attic Insulation From Your Attic:

  1. Insulation is contaminated – After 15-20 year or more, your insulation can become contaminated with rodent feces, rodent urine and other animals. Removing and sanitizing the attic will help remove unwanted contamination from the attic and make your home smell better.
  2. Dusty Home – If your home is always dusty, likely its due to old broken down attic insulation. When your attic insulation gets old, especially if its cellulose attic insulation, the smaller pieces of dust from the attic insulation gets into your walls and will eventually make its way into your home.
  3. Weird Old Attic Smell – Old insulation will retain pollens, allergens, dirt, dust and contamination that will eventually makes its way into you conditioned space.
  4. Old Compacted Insulation Looses R-Value – When fiberglass or cellulose get old, especially cellulose, it will compact, you loose the air pockets that help create the R-Value. When we remove the old attic insulation, we blow in fresh and fluffy attic insulation.
  5. Air Sealing – If you home is not air sealed, removing the attic insulation gives us the opportunity to air seal your home for energy efficiency.

Our conclusion after inspection:

  1. We found 2 dead rats that were buried in the insulation.
  2. We estimated that there were easily between 3000-5000 rat dropping around the attic, this was a bad one.
  3. The urine smell was high. Not a great situation, so we had to ventilate and sanitize before were started the clean out.
