A homeowner contacted us last week due to dampness and mold build up around the HVAC Plenum. The lack of air sealing was discovered by the HVAC company when they found out the new builder did not properly mastic the hvac ducts and they discovered the home was not air sealed.
Our conclusion after inspection:
- Home was not air sealed.
- The electrical holes that are in the top plates are not air sealed.
- The plumbing holes that are in the top plates are 100% air sealed.
- Recessed lights are not air sealed.
Location: Ocoee, Florida
Concern: Home is not air seal resulting in air infiltration.
Cause: Build did not air seal properly.
Correction: We did a partial removal of the good attic insulation which allow us to 100% air seal the home.
