A customer called us this week to do an inspection on there recent purchase due to a room above the garage always being warm. The customer suspected it was due to the room being above the garage. After the initial inspection, we discovered that the bedroom, bathroom, hallway and closet above the garage had zero insulation. Zero, nada, zilch, just drywall.
The previous customer changed the windows, added a larger AC duct and all this did not resolve the problem. We discovered that the was not any insulation in the attic space using our FLIR. Our FLIR system allow us to see through walls and determine temperature. The temps were reading 105F, very high.

Cause:
No insulation in the attic.
Correction:
We added 10.5″ R30 Owens Corning ProPinkL77a in the attic. The bedroom is now within 1F of the rest of the home.
