Rats in the attic. Yes.
Gross. Yes.
Smelly. Yes.
Okay. Here goes – Friday night a customer calls us and states that they have had rats in there attic for a few weeks. They also mentioned that the rat exclusion team finally gave them the all clear to remove the insulation. Why the emergency clean out? They are going on vacation and the AC company can only replace the ducts Monday and Tuesday.(This is something that is very rare for us.)
Friday night, we prepped the truck and trailer for the attic insulation removal and sanitization so the AC guys can come remove and replace all the damaged duct work.
Upon arrival, not a single rat in sight. Just a ton of evidence of rat feces and the horrendous smell of rat urine; and it was gross. As soon as I opened the attic door, a waft of ammonia hit my mask. It was go time. My guys and I had to suit up for this job and we got to work right away.
We removed all the old insulation with out vacuums, sanitized all the attic with DSV, and now the attic is prepped for new AC ducts. We will hopefully go into the attic late next week to blow in fresh Owens Corning Pro PinkL77a at R38 13.5″.
